Modalism is a theological belief that denies the distinctiveness of the three persons of the Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) and instead teaches that they are different modes or manifestations of the one God. In other words, modalism suggests that God has revealed himself in different forms at different times, rather than existing as three distinct persons within the Godhead. This view has been considered heretical by many Christian traditions because it undermines the orthodox understanding of the Trinity as three co-equal and co-eternal persons in one God. **

The Trinity is neither Arianism nor Modalism. Arianism is the belief that Jesus Christ is a created being and not fully divine, while Modalism is the belief that God exists in three different modes or manifestations, rather than as three distinct persons. The orthodox Christian understanding of the Trinity is that God is one being in three persons - the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit - who are co-equal and co-eternal. This doctrine affirms the full divinity of each person of the Trinity while maintaining the unity of God. **
